Chesapeake man dies after sustaining life-threatening injuries in shooting

CHESAPEAKE, Va. —38-year-old Corey Merchant, who was left with life-threatening injuries after a Chesapeake shooting in the 2000 block of Linster Street, died of his injuries Monday.

According to the Chesapeake Police Department, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday night and the victim, Merchant, was taken to Norfolk General Hospital for his injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation. As more information comes available it will be released.
