Virginia State Police investigate two early morning shootings on I-64 near Hampton

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened early Monday morning.

The shootings happened around 1:45 a.m., on I-64 in the area of Hampton Roads Center Parkway and Mercury Boulevard.

After the first shooting a man told police as he was traveling home on I-64 he was shot but did not notice the wound until he returned home. The man went to Riverside Regional Hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Then State Police said another victim’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-64 when it was struck several times by gunfire. The five occupants in the vehicle, to include two juveniles were not hit by the gunfire.

One passenger sustained minor injuries from the broken glass and was treated at Sentara CarePlex Hospital.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Chesapeake Field Office.
