Newport News Police recover stolen gun during traffic stop

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Newport News Police Department announced Sunday that it recovered a stolen revolver during a traffic stop.

Officers conducted the stop at Campbell Road and Heritage Trail. One subject was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, false ID, concealed weapon, driving on a suspended license and failure to obey a traffic signal.

“Great work HIP!” the department said in a tweet.
