Man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Norfolk shooting death

NORFOLK, Va. – One man is dead after a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the 8500 block of Wayland Street.

Police responded to the 8500 block of Wayland Street in regards to a gun disturbance. When police arrived, they found a man outside suffering from a gunshot wound.

Christopher DeShawn Martin, of the 600 block of Mariners Way, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tyquan Shakir Winslow, of the 6400 block of Faraday Court, was originally charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in Martin’s death, but pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and shooting in the commission of a felony. Both are felony charges.

He will be sentenced November 22.
