More than 538K customers without power in North Carolina after Florence makes landfall

NORTH CAROLINA — Emergency Management services in North Carolina are reporting that 538,577 customers are without power in North Carolina after Hurricane Florence made landfall.

The top counties affected are New Hanover, Brunswick, Carteret, Cumberland, Robeson and Onslow counties, NC Emergency Management said.

The storm’s center made landfall near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, Friday. It has since weakened into a tropical depression.

Gov. Roy Cooper of the Tar Heel state announced a State of Emergency ahead of the storm making its way to the coast.
