Gordon is now a tropical depression and continues to weaken as it moves over central Mississippi Wednesday. The threat of heavy rains and flooding will continue for several days.
The depression is located about 45 miles NW of Jackson, Mississippi, and is moving toward the NW near 9 mph. This motion is expected to continue Wednesday night.
Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Gordon will eventually merge with a front across the Midwest and become extratropical.
