Juvenile sentenced on racing charges after fatal Virginia Beach crash

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -The juvenile involved in a fatal crash that killed two people had a trial in Virginia Beach Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court on Friday.

According to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth Attorney, she was sentenced to 12 months with 6 months suspended on each charge. She faced two counts of Racing - causing death.

The crash killed two people in the 1700 block of Dam Neck Road.

According to authorities, a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling eastbound at the same time a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the adjacent lane at 10:50 p.m. Both vehicles were seen racing as a 2018 Genuine Roughhouse50 moped traveled ahead in the same lane.

The motorcyclist was tossed into a ditch when impacting the rear of the moped. The motorcycle later burst into flames. Both the operator of the moped and motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The juvenile operator of the Crosstrek is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center after being arrested and charged with Racing Which Resulted in the Death of Another and Reckless Driving.

On July 9, the victims were identified as 23-year-old Dalton W. Senseney and 24-year-old Daniel Tyler Nicol, both of Virginia Beach.
