HAMPTON, Va. - Alex Carless, 18, told News 3's Aleah Hordges he was beaten up and robbed while delivering a pizza on Covenant Court just after 11 p.m. on May 28.

"I didn't see anyone waiting for me; they just kind of surprised me," the victim said. "Someone called me over and said, 'Hey that's my pizza.' I walked up to him and he just hit me right in the face while I was reading my receipt."

Carless said they knocked him in the back of his head and he fell to the ground. The robbers reportedly took off and got away with $17 and a pizza.

"He said, 'Give me all of your money or you die,'" added the victim.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Carless was hurt badly and said he has a nasal and spinal fracture that will take up to eight weeks to heal.

The victim mentioned that Pizza Hut allows all drivers to cancel the delivery if they feel unsafe in a neighborhood, however Carless said he didn't feel that way at all on the night of the incident.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Carless to help with medical costs.

"It's not even so much our of out pocket as it is his loss of money working the summer so he can have money to take with him when he goes to school," said the victim's father, Glenn Carless.

Police said this crime remains under investigation and have not released any suspect information.
