Suspect charged in connection with Virginia Beach bank robberies

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Beach Police Department has charged a man in connection with two robberies that happened at the BayPort Credit  Union in the 5200 block of Providence Road in the Providence Square Shopping Center.

Around 3:47 p.m. Monday, a preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the bank teller. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Joshua David Davenport of Virginia Beach. Davenport has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of wearing a mask in public.

Police say Davenport was also charged for the bank robbery that happened at the same location on May 24.

No one was injured during either incident.

Davenport will have a preliminary hearing on August 2, 2018.
