CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A 44-year-old Chesapeake man was arrested Monday for leading police on a chase that ended in Norfolk.

Linwood Lamont Owens was charged with Driving on a Revoked License, Felony Eluding and Possession of Cocaine.

Around 12:04 p.m. Monday, an officer with the Chesapeake Police Department initiated a traffic stop in the Deep Creek area of the city for an expired inspection sticker when the driver, Owens, failed to stop and continued into the Greenbrier neighborhood. The officer saw Owens throw something out of the window during the chase.

When Owens continued into the City of Virginia Beach, officers deployed spike strips on Indian River Road. Owens drove into oncoming traffic for a ways on Indian River before getting onto I-264 heading towards Norfolk, where he eventually crashed near the Campostella exit.

Chesapeake Police said Owens attempted to flee on foot but was caught by a K-9 and taken into custody. Owens's passenger, 45-year-old Rodriquez Rodgers, was also arrested for possession of cocaine.

Virginia Beach police confirm they have a police report for motor vehicle theft involving the vehicle involved in this incident.  Owens is wanted in the Resort City for Reckless Driving and Hit & Run causing property damage.

Nobody was hurt during the chase or the crash. Owens appeared in court on Tuesday and will be back in court in September.
