Shooting in Virginia Beach leaves woman with life threatening injuries

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Monday morning.

It happened just before 4 a.m. at the intersection of Weaver Drive and Featherstone Court.

When officers arrived, they found the 40-year-old victim with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Neighbors told News 3's Samantha German that the victim is a mother and has never gotten into any kind of trouble. They say the sound of gunfire and sirens and the bright lights of emergency responders woke many people up out of their sleep.

Police have not released a suspect description or motive at this time.

The victim's current condition is unknown at this time.
