Portsmouth Police are investigating after man shot in arm

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Police  are investigating after a man was shot early Sunday morning.

Police say just before 6:30 a.m., dispatchers received a call for assistance to the 7-Eleven convenience store in the 1800 block of Effingham Street, for a man who walked into the store injured.

When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from a serious gunshot wound to his arm. The man was transported to a local hospital for what appeared to be, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say as the investigation continued, detectives became aware that the man was shot in the area of Chestnut Street and Lincoln Street before going to the 7-Eleven for help.

The investigation into this shooting incident is still ongoing and no arrests have been made.
