Report of shots fired in Virginia Beach turns into homicide investigation

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - An investigation into shots fired in Virginia Beach on Sunday night is now a homicide investigation.

Virginia Beach Police were called to the 600 block of Old Post Road for a report of shots fired around 8:30 p.m.

Police found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Roger Carnell Yancy of Virginia Beach. He was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

The victim was later identified as 41-year-old Mark Burke of Virginia Beach. Police say Burke and Yancy were known to each other.
