GLOUCESTER, Va. - An investigation is underway after a pedestrian died Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in Gloucester County.
Virginia State Police say they were notified at 5:50 a.m. that a vehicle had hit the pedestrian in the 7100 block of George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17).

An investigation revealed 32-year-old John Kenneth Green was walking northbound on Route 17 when he attempted to cross the road at a non-intersection/designated crosswalk. That's when he was hit by a 1997 Toyota Camry traveling northbound.
Green died at the scene.
The driver of the Camry, 31-year-old Lisa Renee Lopez, did not suffer any injuries.
