Police investigate the shooting death of 18-year-old in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police in Newport News are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old man Sunday around 9:30 p.m.

According to officials, the victim was found in the passenger's side of a car in the 800 block of 36th Street, but the shooting happened in the 900 block of 37th Street.

The teen was shot multiple times when a black 4-door sedan pulled up next to the vehicle and shot into the car.

Medics were called but were not able to save the teen, later identified as Elijah Damonte Mclean. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
