Motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. – A motorcyclist died in a crash in the 3300 block of Chesapeake Boulevard Friday afternoon.

The call came in shortly before 3:30 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found the motorcyclist lying in the roadway unresponsive.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Derrick Lawson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Lawson was traveling in the area when he lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road and struck a power pole.

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries were reported.
