World War II U.S. Navy Sailor’s remains returned to home town in South Dakota

The body of a World War II U.S. Navy Sailor who was killed in 1941 when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, has finally returned home to South Dakota.

Porter Leigh Rich was a U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma.

Rich’s remains were recently identified using DNA analysis. They were returned to his hometown of Lake Preston, South Dakota for a proper burial.
