Mathews County high school closed for the day after receiving threat

MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. – Mathews High School is closed after a threat was made Tuesday morning, according to the Mathews County Schools Superintendent’s Office.

The building was evacuated and student and staff were taken via school bus to Thomas Hunter Middle School.Parents can pick their children up at the middle school.

Law enforcement are currently at the high school to investigate.
