VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — All eastbound lanes of Virginia Beach Boulevard Thalia Road and S. Kentucky Avenue have been reopened after a large water main break Wednesday.

Dispatchers received the call around 12:20 a.m.

After closing the road off for hours, the break was repaired around 1 a.m.

The water main break is due to cold weather, according to officials. Officials also say the pipe is 70 years old and thousands of gallons of water has been lost.

At least 50 homes and businesses were without water. There was at least two feet of water by businesses in the area.
