HAMPTON, Va. - For the third straight year, Westfield claims state supremacy after holding on to beat Oscar Smith 28-21 in the VHSL Class 6 state championship at Armstrong Stadium on the campus of Hampton University.

The Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but the Bulldogs would score the next 20 points to take a two-score lead.

Oscar Smith would get a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter when Cam'Ron Kelly intercepted Westfield, but the Bulldogs got a game-sealing interception that clinched another state title.

"The same teams are here year after year, I couldn't be prouder of this group of guys," Oscar Smith head coach Scott Johnson said after the game. "They never gave up, it just wasn't our day."

All three state title game losses have been handed to the Tigers by Westfield.

Westfield quarterback Noah Kim threw three touchdown passes, including an 88-yard go-ahead, and eventual game-winning touchdown in the third quarter.

Westfield celebrates winning it's third state title.

Cam'Ron Kelly scored a rushing and receiving touchdown for Oscar Smith. "It hurts, but I love these guys," said Kelly post-game. "They can't let this define their life or their high school career. God has a plan."

For the third straight season, no Hampton Roads high school's won a state championship.
