PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The lockdown on Mt. Hermon Preschool has been lifted after police investigated a shooting in the area.
The incident happened Friday in the 300 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue.
The call came in at 1:45 p.m. in reference to a man who had been shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.
Medics transported the man to a local hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the shooting happened in the area of Wesley Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue, and that the victim ran into a local business for help.
The lockdown was lifted shortly before 4 p.m.
