Hampton Police make arrest in shooting of 40-year-old woman

HAMPTON, Va. – April Renee Braxton has been arrested by Hampton Police in connection with a shooting that left a 40-year-old woman shot on Sept. 15.

The 33-year-old Braxton of Hampton, was arrested on Oct. 4 in connection to this incident. She has been charged with one count of Maiming, one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and one count of Discharging a Firearm.

Police officials say that the shooting evolved from what was originally a physical altercation, and are looking for multiple suspects that were involved in the incident.

Hampton Police dispatchers received  several calls around 11:32 p.m. about a shooting that had occurred in the intersection of the streets.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 40-year-old Hampton woman, in the intersection, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The woman was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
