Portsmouth Police seeking Rite-Aid robbery suspect

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in connection to a robbery that occurred at the Rite-Aid at 5914 High St. W. early Wednesday evening.

Dispatchers received the call at 6:32 p.m. requesting police assistance to the pharmacy for a robbery. Detectives say the suspect approached the clerk, implied he had a handgun and demanded prescription drugs. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands and was not injured. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white male who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts with a stripe on the side and gray shoes.
