Portsmouth Police investigate homicide after man found shot

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Police are investigating a homicide that happened Monday.

A man was found shot in the upper torso in the 1100 block of Wilcox Ave., around 2:30 p.m.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Joshua Sykes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I don’t understand how this happened. He was a good-hearted dude," JB Cameron, a friend of Sykes's, said to News 3 

Police haven't said if Sykes lived in the home. 

There is no suspect information at this time.
