WASHINGTON – In a game delayed three hours due to rain, Nationals superstar Bryce Harper injured his leg when he appeared to slip on first base during the first inning of Washington’s Saturday night game vs. San Francisco.

Harper, whose leg buckled prior to the fall, did not appear to put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field, through the dugout and into the clubhouse. After the game, Washington manager Dusty Baker revealed Harper hyperextended his knee and will undergo an MRI Sunday.

UPDATE (Sunday August 13): Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo reveals Harper has a significant bone bruise in his left knee, but no ligament/tendon damage. He’s on the disabled list with a hyperextended left knee, but there’s no timetable for his return. However Rizzo expects Bryce to play again this season.
