Five bomb threats to three ships, two buildings reported at JEB Little Creek-Fort Story

NORFOLK, Va. - Five bomb threats were called in to three ships and two buildings at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the base tells News 3 the first call was received at 9:19 a.m. for a bomb threat against the USS Whidbey Island.

A second call was received at 9:55 a.m. for a bomb threat against Admiral Joel T. Boone Branch Health Clinic. As a precautionary measure, the clinic was evacuated and a security sweep was conducted. The clinic is now open and normal operations have resumed.

A third call was received at 10:30 a.m. for a bomb threat against the USS Gunston Hall. Pier 16 is currently secured to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The harbor remains secured to military traffic and the MWR marina on base remains secured to  boat traffic.

A fourth call was received at 10:55 a.m. to the Personnel Support Detachment on base. The building was evacuated as a precaution and security conducted a sweep. The lockdown was lifted at 11:25 a.m.

A fifth call was received at 1:11 p.m. to the USS Oak Hill. Base security was responding.

Following thorough security sweeps, the calls were deemed not credible and normal operations resumed at JEB Little Creek.

The Navy Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the multiple calls.
