NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police are looking for a man who shot into a woman’s apartment Tuesday night.

Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Logan Place around 11:20 p.m. in reference to a person with a gun.

A neighbor told News 3 the mom and infant were terrified.

Police said they don’t know if the woman was targeted or if it was a random shooting.

The caller told police there was a black male who knocked on the door wearing Army fatigues and dark pants and shot several rounds at her apartment.

She was in her son’s bedroom upstairs looking out of the window when she observed a black male knocking on her door. Police said the victim heard the unknown male ask for someone.

Police said after the victim shut her window and walked away, she said the male began to shoot into the apartment several times.

Authorities said they found several castings in the parking lot directly in front of the victim’s residence.

Law enforcement say the victim’s apartment also had damage from multiple bullet holes and one of the bullet fragments was located from the upstairs bedroom window frame.

Police say there were no reported injuries from this incident and the investigation remains ongoing.
