CHERRYSTONE, Va. – Coast Guard crews are searching for a missing boater in the Chesapeake Bay Thursday night.

The boater went missing in the Cherrystone Inlet after a 27 foot Skip Boat capsized around 4 p.m.

The Coast Guard said three people were on board when the boat capsized.

Two of the boaters were rescued by a good samaritan but one is still missing.

The missing boater was reportedly wearing waders, a red shirt and was not wearing a life jacket.

“Our crews are searching the area for the mariner,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Chris Shore, executive petty officer at Station Cape Charles. “Anyone with information related to the search should call the Sector Hampton Roads Command Center at 757-668-5555.”
