SUFFOLK, Va. - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway.

The call came in at 6:01 a.m. Tuesday from a home in the Magnolia Lakes Mobile Home Park.

When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. The victim received emergency medical assessment at the scene and died while on the way to the hospital.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Tyrone Lee Bailey, of Chesapeake.

28-year-old Troyonne Markest Ellis has been arrested on charges including one count of 2nd Degree Murder, one count of Armed Burglary, and one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of Felony.

He is currently being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other and the incident is being considered as domestic.

Brittanni Phillips lives right next door to the home she says police were called to. Phillips' says her daughter watched through her bedroom window.

"She told us that she saw a man being taken out on a stretcher and he's breathing funny and stuff like that," she said. "It was very frightening actually. Way too close to home and these walls are thin."

Tony Meagher lives two doors down and says activity at the home has raised some red flags in the past.

"I'm not surprised that somebody got hurt out there. I'll be honest with you as far as that goes. I've seen a lot of things in the last 10 years," he said.
