CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Gov. Terry McAuliffe said he’s continuing to focus on bringing jobs to the Commonwealth during the last nine months of his term.

Gov. McAuliffe and his cabinet met with local and state leaders during a Hampton Roads Chamber luncheon on Thursday afternoon.

“We’re going great, but we gotta take it to the next level,” McAuliffe said. His visit came amid recent developments in road projects in the area, something the governor says he’s been focused on during his time in office. “We’ve weighed in hard on transportation. I promise everyone I’d add lanes to 64,” he said. “We’re doing that.”

The governor says he is concerned about upcoming projected federal cuts, called sequestration. “The next round of sequestration is here to stay,” he said, warning that the cuts could be worse than ones the state faced a few years ago.

For now, the governor says he’s focused on promoting the Commonwealth to businesses around the world. He’s planning to travel to Mexico in a few weeks.
