York County bus driver charged with reckless driving after Wednesday morning crash

YORK COUNTY, Va. – Several high school students suffered minor injuries in a school bus crash that occurred Wednesday morning on Victory Boulevard near Big Bethel Road.

Virginia State Police were called to investigate the crash around 9 a.m.

A preliminary investigation reveals the bus was driving east on Victory Boulevard and approaching two vehicles stopped at the red traffic light at Big Bethel Road. The bus hit one of the vehicles from behind, causing a chain reaction.

The bus driver, Raymond Michael Bliss of Yorktown, was charged with Reckless Driving.

The bus was carrying 11 students to Tabb High School. Five of the students claimed minor injuries. They were all examined and treated by the York County Fire Department at the scene. No one was transported to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
