Newport News Police headquarters phone system back up after outage

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Newport News Police Department Headquarters experienced technical difficulties with their phone system Monday morning.

News 3 was notified around 12:45 p.m. that the phones had been fixed.

Police say because of this issue, the public was not able to reach the main police headquarters but could still reach police by calling 911 or the non-emergency number at 757-247-2500.

Police communications were not affected by the phone outage.
