RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring announced legal action against President Trump’s immigration order on Tuesday.

In the announcement Herring cited Virginia public universities and said many students’ grants are affected by the order, in addition to other issues they are experiencing.

Herring said “This order is unlawful, unconstitutional and un-American, action is required.”

Gov. McAuliffe praised Herring saying he supported the action being taken.

“We look forward to getting a resolution to this issue very soon,” McAuliffe said about the legal action against the immigration order.

Herring said this is a legal matter being processed so questions could not be answered on details of the action at this time.

Protests sparked around the nation after the immigration order was issued by Trump on Friday night.

The order temporarily barred entry to the US from seven Muslim-majority countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.
