VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are looking for a man who reportedly attacked a student on the Regent University campus Tuesday morning.

The attack allegedly happened around 5:30 a.m. inside Foundation Hall. A female student reported that she was attacked and wounded. She was transported to a local hospital by EMS with minor injuries.

Campus police say the suspect is a thin, white male, approximately 5'10" - 5'11", who was wearing a dark hoodie over his face.

He was last seen at Foundation Hall, a campus dormitory, between 5:30 a.m and 6 a.m.

The attack has some students now taking precautions for their safety. Preston Braswell is looking after his younger student, who is a fellow student. "I'm just walking her to and from class, and everything, and making sure she's safe until we hear further details," he said.

Campus Police Chief Chris Mitchell didn't say if the attacker is a student, but did say it requires a student ID to get into a residence hall. "Whenever something happens to someone on this campus under our watch," he said. "We're serious about it."

Anyone who encounters an individual matching this description or who has any information about this crime is asked to immediately call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or campus police at 757-226-2075.
