Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Rain, sleet, wind, and much colder… A cold front pushed through yesterday and brought in huge changes for us. The biggest, a 40 degree temperature drop. Sunday was record setting with highs in the upper 70s. Today we remain in the mid 30s through the afternoon. It will feel about 10 degrees colder with north winds at 10 to 20 and gusting to 30 mph. With the cold temperatures, watch for a rain and sleet mixture. Most of us will see a cold rain and drizzle this afternoon and evening but a few inland areas will see sleet mix in. No accumulation is expected.

Showers will taper off from NW to SE tonight. It will still be windy with gusts to near 25 and lows in the mid 30s. Clouds will start to clear Tuesday with a leftover rain shower possible for the Outer Banks. Highs will reach into the mid 40s Tuesday but it will still be a bit windy with gusts to 20 mph. Highs will reach the low to mid 50s with plenty of sunshine on Wednesday.

Today: Mostly Cloudy, Rain & Sleet (70%), Cold, Windy. Highs in the upper 30s. Winds: N 10-20 G30

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy, Rain & Sleet (40%). Lows in the mid 30s. Winds: N 10-20 G25
