NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - When singer K'bana Blaq lost his mother to cancer years ago, he lost the desire to celebrate Christmas.
"I became my own personal scrooge, and I just didn't want to do it anymore," said Blaq on News 3 This Morning.
Blaq said he found a way to heal through writing his first play, "Oh Where, Oh Where is my Christmas Tree?" It first debuted in December 2014, and a newer version of the play will debut this weekend in Newport News.
"It has taught me that love never fails," Blaq said of the play.
"Oh Where, Oh Where is my Christmas Tree?" takes the stage this Saturday, at Downing Gross Cultural Arts Center in Newport News. You can purchase the $20 tickets onlineor at the box office before the show. Doors open at 7pm, a puppet show for kids begins at 7:30pm, and the play begins at 8pm.
