‘Miss & Mr. Abilities Chesapeake Pageant’ celebrates teens with disabilties

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – The City of Chesapeake is accepting applications for the Miss & Mr. Abilities Chesapeake Pageant.

Girls and boys ages 13-and-older that have a disability and live in Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg or York County are eligible to enter.

The pageant will include a casual and evening wear portion, an interview and a talent competition.

Every contestant will receive a trophy for participating.

One female will be crowned Miss Abilities Chesapeake 2017 and one male will be crowned Mr. Abilities Chesapeake 2017. It is the first year the pageant is allowing male contestants.

The pageant will take place April 30, 2017 at the Chesapeake Conference Center from 6 to 9 p.m.

Applications should be turned in by February 28, 2017. The pageant is limited to 10 female and 10 male contestants. Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Applicants will be able to be put on a wait list after the 20 slots have been filled.
