Norfolk woman dies after being shot Sunday night

NORFOLK, Va. – A 38-year-old woman has died after being shot at a home in the 500 block of Garren Avenue on Sunday night.

Norfolk Police dispatchers received a call reporting the shooting around 8:40 p.m.

Officers arrived to find 38-year-old Charlene Ryals inside the home and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Norfolk Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No suspect information has been released at this time.
