Chief Meteorologist Patrick Rockey’s First Warning Forecast

Warm and possibly stormy weather on the way. We are tracking a powerful cold front heading in our direction. Ahead of that front a gusty southwest wind will send temperatures to near-record highs.

On Wednesday, expect the mercury to climb into the mid-to-upper 70s. The record at Norfolk international is 79°.

That front will also give us a chance for scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms. There is even a chance for an isolated severe storm, with damaging winds and hail.

A few showers may linger into early on Thursday, but the trend is for clearing skies. It will still be fairly mild on Thursday with high temperatures in the mid 60s.

But the cooler weather takes hold for Friday and into the weekend. Expect high temperatures only in the low-to-mid 50s.

Another storm system moves in late in the weekend, bringing us a chance for rain Sunday night, Monday and into Tuesday.
