VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Governor McAuliffe declared a special election on Tuesday for several soon-to-be vacant General Assembly seats.

One of the vacancies will be of Republican Delegate Scott Taylor from the Virginia House of Delegates District 85.

McAuliffe scheduled a special election in January, for Virginia Beach voters to replace delegate Taylor.

Taylor resigned from the State House of Delegates, after being elected to Congress.

Candidates to replace Taylor in Richmond have until December 5 to file to be on the ballot.

The election will be held on January 10.
