CHESAPEAKE - One year ago, 21-year-old Cedric Towe was gunned down and possibly lured to his death by someone he met online. His family held a vigil where he died to honor his memory and make a desperate plea.

Time is supposed to help heal the pain, but for Cedric's family, the wounds are still fresh.

"It's still new to me. It's just like it just happened yesterday, you know what I'm saying?" said Charles Towe, Cedric's dad.

Exactly one year ago on November 28, 2015, Charles dropped off his son in his old neighborhood on Colonial Way. Cedric was there for a date with someone he met online. Instead, he was murdered.

We were just joking that night before he left the house and stuff like that. It just hits you hard. I still can't believe he's gone. I believe the reason he got killed was because he knew who the person was," said Towe.

Police arrested Desiree McGee for robbing Cedric the day he died. Court records show Cedric met someone online named Kia. A police search warrant shows Kia's facebook is attached to the email address desiree868@gmail.com.

Towe said his family hasn't gotten any updates from police since June. They aren't sure if Cedric's killer will ever be caught.

"There's a lot of people who claim they're my son's friends, but everybody acts like they're scared to talk," said Towe.

McGee is now out on bond and Charles is praying for justice.

"Whoever was involved I hope they get the death penalty. I ain't going to sugarcoat nothing."
