Police investigate after man fatally shot in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are investigating after a man was shot in the 400 block of Williams Court on November 21.

Police Dispatch got a call about the incident at 10:45 p.m.

The victim was found by police with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

He was later identified as 28-year-old Christopher Burnham of Virginia Beach.

The neighborhood where it all happened is off the Witchduck Rd. exit, near Virginia Beach Boulevard. The area is home to dozens of children who waited for the bus just hours after the shooting.

Residents told News 3 they often hear gunshots, but not in this section of their neighborhood. One woman said she heard 3 consecutive shots.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
