20th annual Mayflower Marathon Food and Fund Drive kicks off

NORFOLK, Va. - Folks all over Hampton Roads are gearing up for the 20th Annual Mayflower Marathon Food and Fund Drive.

Starting Friday, volunteers will be collecting food and monetary donations for 57 straight hours to benefit theFoodbank of Southeaster Virginia and the Easter Shoreand the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.

“It’s just a really important time,” said Joy Eyrolles of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. “Families are coming together. Everyone should have a meal that they can share and enjoy.”

Radio personalities from 106.9 the Fox and FM99 are broadcasting live throughout the event.

“We welcome your donations of not only the turkeys and the nonperishable food items, but money as well,” said Sonja Morrell of WNOR.
