Suspect arrested for attempting to rob person at ATM in Portsmouth

28-year-old Jovonte Trotter has been charged with attempted robbery.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A suspect has been arrested for trying to rob a person at an ATM on Thursday morning.

28-year-old Jovonte Trotter has been charged with attempted robbery.

Portsmouth Police responded to a call from the 7-Eleven at 600 Fredrick Blvd., for the attempted robbery of a person.

The caller said the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

Police say as they were responding to the area they located the suspect vehicle with a male subject inside who matched the description of the robbery suspect.

No one was injured in the incident.

The Portsmouth Police Department reminds residents that with the holiday shopping season around the corner that it is important to be aware of your surroundings at all times when shopping or going to an ATM machine.
