An Arizona animal rescue center has partnered with a local senior living facility to provide foster homes for orphaned kittens.

The residents at Catalina Springs Memory Care have Dementia or Alzheimer’s and need around-the-clock care themselves, but they’re more than happy to bottle feed, play and love on the orphaned kittens.

“There are skills, emotions and needs that do not just leave a person with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. The desire to give love and receive love remains. The kittens have given us the opportunity to nurture this human condition that lies in each and every one of our residents,” says Catalina Springs Memory Care Executive Director Sharon Mercer.

The first two kittens to be fostered were Peaches and Turtle, two females who came to the Pima Animal Care Center on October 14 when they weighed only 7 ounces. The residents at CSMC will bottle feed the kittens until they reach two pounds and can be placed up for adoption.
