PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A fire completely destroyed the garage attached to a home in the 2700 block of Island Road.

According to fire officials, dispatch received multiple calls Sunday morning about a fire.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the attached garage. The fire also spread to the roof and attic of the home.

Crews spend about an hour putting out the fire.

Everyone in the house was able to make it out safely.

The cause of the fire seems to be accidental, according to Portsmouth Fire Chief Hoffler.
