The First Warning Storm Team is tracking a big cool-down today.

Today, it will be cool and windy. Highs will be in the lower 50s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will be out of the north between 10 and 20 mph. The winds may diminish a little bit by afternoon. Still, it will remain a little cool.

Freeze Warning in effect 1:00 am Sunday through 8:00 am Sunday for Eastern Virginia, Northeast North Carolina and the lower Eastern Shore.  Expect freezing to sub-freezing temperatures (mid 20s to lower 30s). A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are likely.  These conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation.

By early Sunday morning, temperatures will dip into the low and mid-30s! Some inland communities will likely reach the upper 20s! Make sure you protect your pets and plants. By Sunday afternoon, with sunshine, we’ll see highs rebound to near 60.

Next week, we’ll have to pay close attention to the forecast. An area of low pressure may develop along our coast early next week, bringing wind and rainy weather. We’ll keep an eye on it.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Cool and windy. Highs in the low 50s. Winds: N 10-20 mph, gusts to 30 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Milder. Highs near 60. Winds: W 5-10 mph.
