Much colder air is on the way for the weekend….Fasten your seatbelts. We have a huge drop in temperatures ahead, just in time for the weekend.

As we move through our Friday afternoon, expect mostly sunny skies across Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina. Highs will warm into the mid 60s. A cold front will sweep through the area from the north, giving way to partly cloudy skies and windy conditions this evening. In fact, winds will blow in from the north between 10 and 20 mph tonight, with gusts up to 30 mph. Rain chances will be slim. Low temperatures will be in the mid 40s.

On Saturday, it will be cool and windy. Highs will be in the lower 50s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will blow in from the north between 10 and 20 mph. The winds may diminish a little bit by afternoon. Still, it will remain a little cool.

By early Sunday morning, temperatures will dip into the low and mid 30s! Some inland communities will likely reach the upper 20s! Make sure you protect your pets and plants. By Sunday afternoon, with sunshine, we’ll see highs rebound to near 60.

Next week, we’ll have to pay close attention to the forecast. An area of low pressure may develop along our coast early next week, bringing wind and rainy weather. We’ll keep an eye on it.

This Afternoon: Mostly Sunny. Warmer, Breezy. Highs in the mid 60s. Winds: W/NW 5-15 mph.

Tonight: Partly Cloudy and Windy. Lows in the mid 40s. Winds: N 10-20 mph, gust to 30 mph.

Saturday: Mostly Sunny. Cool and Windy. Highs in the low 50s. Winds: N 10-20 mph, gusts to 30 mph.

Sunday: Mostly Sunny. Milder. Highs near 60. Winds: W 5-10 mph.
