RICHMOND, Va. — A Shockoe Bottom restaurant and bar is coming under scrutiny after a photo of its dress code was posted on social media Friday morning.

The photo shows 7 Hills Brewing Company’s code of conduct which specifically bans items such as Timberland boots, white and baggy t-shirts, doo-rags, hats, Black and Mild’s, and visible boxers.

Some are calling the code of conduct racist, saying it targets the black community.

The code of conduct says the list is an effort to provide their customers and employees with a safe, secure and fun experience.

The sign also states no weapons, drugs, or liquor are allowed inside of the establishment and all men must wear a collared shirt or a shirt with buttons.

Some aspects of the dress code aren’t unusual as some bars and most clubs in the city ban baggy t-shirts, Timberlands and doo-rags.

The owner or manager of 7 Hills Brewing Company was unavailable to provide a comment at this time.
