Five Perquimans High School students charged after fight that left 13 injured

HERTFORD, N.C. – Five students have now been charged for their participation in a fight at Perquimans High School on October 27.

Perquimans Schools Superintendent Matthew Cheeseman told News 3 that the students who were charged range in age from 14 to 17 years old and some have been charged as adults.

Cheeseman also said that some of the charges include assault and disorderly conduct.

On the day of the incident, Cheeseman told News 3 that up to 13 people were injured while trying to break up the fight.

The 13 injured included teachers, staff, and the principal of the high school.

The student who was initially attacked used a fire extinguisher during the fight as a projectile in an aggressive manner. No other weapons were involved.
